Life is for living, (yes it is and I know you love it when I state the obvious). Fun, enjoyment, pleasure. Sometimes when we are busy working on ourselves, developing ourselves, we can get all serious, changing our lives. Or maybe life is just tough and there is nothing you can do about it, even more reason to have something in your life that you are passionate about.
The idea about being alcohol free is that at some point you stop counting days, because you are so busy enjoying your life that you don’t think about it anymore. Anyway who wants to keep thinking about alcohol I certainly don’t, far more important things to think about like, chocolate, music, dancing, beaches and sex. Not necessarily in that order.
Sounds good doesn’t it.
One of the keys to this, is having something, or somethings in your life that fulfil you that you feel passionate about. It can literally be anything, animals, a cause, politics, reading, personal development, training, a job, dancing, music, a language, travelling, faith, people. Literally anything the only pre-requisite is that it gets you going, your heart beats faster, it speaks to your soul, it makes sense to you.
When you have that thing, that’s it, that’s your go to.
But what do you do, if you don’t have anything in your life that feels like this for you.
How do you find your passion?
Answer these questions and see what comes up.
· What subject could you read 500 books on without getting bored? I have been reading self help books since I was in my mid-twenties, in fact that is the bulk of my collection, popular psychology, therapy books, books on addiction. Guess what that’s what I do, I can’t help myself.
· Look at your book collection, what is it saying?
· What could you spend your time doing and not get paid?
· What would you do if you had complete financial abundance?
· Think about what subjects get you going? When you have conversations with people, debates?
· What do you dream about?
· Ask your nearest and dearest, what are your special talents? You know the things you do naturally, maybe you haven’t noticed, but your friends and family will have. Then have an open mind about what they come back with, see if there are any common themes.
· Think back, what did you do as a child? What did you spend your time doing? Playing? Hobbies?
Be curious, follow the feeling. When you answer these questions, see what comes up. Even if you just get an inkling, go with it, try it out. Action, remember sometimes we don’t know until we do.
Now these things don’t have to be a job, we can have jobs we like, are good at, or hit some button somewhere, but actually they don’t fulfil us its not our passion. We can fulfil our passions outside of work.
Obviously I would love it if you are passionate about how you earn money, we all need money right at the mo, its how the world operates. We also spend a lot of time working, so in an ideal world it would be great if you enjoyed your work. But sometimes that’s also about the people, not necessarily what you are doing.
I would love to know what comes up for you when you ask yourself these questions.
